“Rooted in the blues and psychedelic rock atmosphere, Black Snake Moan is a sound research project. Atypical to most one man bands, the Italian artist, Marco Contestabile is inspired by a broad spectrum of artists, which culminates in a sound threaded with spiritual evocation. His homeland, the land of the ancient Etruscans, belongs to a region permeated with mystery, where the cult of death and beliefs in the afterlife and supernatural events were part of everyday life. Myriad passages still pass through its sun-drenched hills: canyons carved into the tuff rocks, labyrinths, and burial complexes that represent ancient pathways with darkness and light alteration. It is a misty path that connects the eternal echo of ancient Etruscan visionary culture to the spirituality of the Southwestern United States’s scenery, to the deserts of Native Americans, seemingly static but floating like mirages. Black Snake Moan is a sound research project with deep roots in the atmospheres of blues and psychedelic rock. Born under the sign of reverb, Black Snake Moan accompanies the listener on an inner journey, punctuated by ancestral, intense, and evocative echoes.”
