VOODOO DRUMMER – Erik Satie in 7/8 + Milo mou kokkino

At last, the Afro-Dionysian duo live.
They play Music as they hear it, even if it isn’t supposed to sound like that!
They create a unique sound with Cello, Drums plus Metal-Balafon,
along with the China & Splash cymbals, Cowbell and Maracas.
Here their version of Satie’s “Gnossienne No 1” in 7/8
mixes with the Greek folk song “Milo mou kokkino”.

“Manos Hadjidakis’ compositions inspired by Erik Satie, was the start.
Then his life and writings. The mavERIcK SATIE!
But it was his esotERIK music that inspired me the most.
Instead of performing “Gnossienne” as it’s usually played,
my weird self led me to adapt it to an odd Greek rhythm.
I hope that his notorious modesty will prevent him from saying anything!
At 1.18 the listener may recognize the Greek folk melody of “Milo mou kokkino” (My red apple). Probably because he heard it at 0.08 , too”
